Anime Discord servers: how to find a community you'll actually enjoy
How to find anime Discord servers that fit you: watch parties, manga and manhwa clubs, art, cosplay, roleplay and gacha communities, plus spoiler etiquette.
Anime Discord servers range from tiny clubs that watch one show together every week to huge hubs with channels for every season, every manga and every fan art style. That variety is the fun part, and also why finding the right one takes a little effort. This guide covers the main kinds of anime communities, how spoiler etiquette works, what to check before you join, and how to filter anime servers on TopGuilds.
Types of anime Discord servers
General anime hangouts
Big servers where people talk about whatever is airing, share recommendations, post memes and argue about the best opening of the season. Good for constant activity and broad recommendations. The downside: in a large chat it is easy to get lost, so look for servers with topic channels and active events.
Watch parties and seasonal clubs
Smaller communities that watch the same episodes on a schedule and talk about them afterwards, often in a voice channel. Some pick one show per season, others run weekly movie nights. If you want people to talk to about the episode you just watched, this is the best fit.
Manga, manhwa and light novel clubs
Readers' communities with chapter discussions, reading lists and recommendations. Many keep separate channels per series because readers are at very different chapters.
Art and fan art communities
Servers for artists who draw anime-style art: work-in-progress channels, critique, challenges, commissions boards and tutorials. Browse art Discord servers if you draw or want to learn.
Cosplay communities
Builds, wig styling, props, photo sharing and convention meetups. Good cosplay servers have clear rules on photo consent and on comments about people's bodies.
Roleplay servers
Text roleplay in anime-inspired worlds or established series, with character sheets, lore channels and plot channels. Read the rules carefully: good RP servers spell out what content is allowed and how storylines work.
Gacha and anime game communities
Servers around anime-style games such as gacha titles: pull results, team building, event guides and co-op. Many of these overlap with game communities, so also check the game's own page, for example Genshin Impact servers.
Spoiler etiquette
Nothing ruins a show faster than an ending in the general chat. Good anime servers handle spoilers on purpose, and you should too.
- Use spoiler tags. Discord lets you mark text and images as spoilers, so they stay hidden until someone clicks them. Use them for plot points, even if the episode came out last week.
- Respect spoiler channels. Many servers have a channel per show or per episode. Keep discussion there, not in general chat.
- Know the manga line. Anime-only viewers and manga readers are at different points. Mark manga spoilers clearly, even in an anime discussion channel.
- Don't spoil in titles or nicknames. Thread names, status messages and nicknames are visible without clicking.
- Ask before recommending with context. "It gets amazing after episode 12, because..." can already spoil too much.
If a server has no spoiler rules at all, expect to see endings you didn't want to see.
What a good anime server has
- A clear focus. "Anime fans" is broad. "Weekly seasonal watch club, EU evenings" tells you exactly what to expect.
- Topic and spoiler channels so conversations don't collide.
- Rules that are enforced. Look at the rules channel and check whether chat actually follows them.
- Regular events. Watch parties, art challenges, quizzes, tier-list nights. On TopGuilds you can browse upcoming community events.
- A friendly tone toward newcomers. No gatekeeping about how many shows you have seen.
- Respect for creators. Art servers that credit artists and forbid reposting without permission are a good sign.
NSFW awareness
Anime fandoms include a lot of mature content, and some servers are built around it. Discord requires that adult content be kept in age-restricted channels or servers, and you must meet the age requirement to see it.
TopGuilds does not list NSFW or age-restricted servers: public listings must follow the listing guidelines, and every listing is reviewed by a moderator before it goes public. If a listed server turns out to have explicit content without age gating, leave and use the Report link on its listing page.
A few general tips:
- Read the rules before you post art, especially in art and roleplay servers.
- Be careful with links to outside sites that promise free streams, downloads or "uncensored" versions. They are a common way to spread malware and phishing.
- Leave if a server pushes you toward content you didn't sign up for.

How to find anime servers on TopGuilds
- Open the anime category for all anime and manga communities, or the anime tag for servers that mention anime as one of their topics.
- Add a language filter if you want to chat in your own language.
- Pick a size. Small & cozy is ideal for watch clubs where people know each other, while Busy right now shows big servers with people online at this moment.
- Check for the Verified active badge. It means the server runs the free BotGG bot, which reports real activity.
- Read the description and tags. A watch club, an art server and a roleplay server can all be "anime", but they are very different places.

Running an anime server?
You can list your anime server on TopGuilds for free: log in with Discord, paste a permanent invite and fill in the card. You need at least 10 members, and no bot is required. Describe what your community actually does, whether that is weekly watch parties, a manga club or an art circle, and pick tags that match. If you want event ideas, read our guide to Discord server ideas.
