TopGuilds wants every listed server to be real, safe and described honestly. This page explains what happens to a listing after you submit it, what we refuse and how servers are ranked.

Review by people

  • Every new listing and every edit is reviewed by BotGG staff before it is public. We check the name, tagline, description, tags, links and images, and whether the invite leads to the server that is described.
  • While an edit waits for review, the last approved version stays online.
  • A server must have at least 10 members, a permanent invite and must not be marked as age-restricted on Discord.
  • Counts and invites are checked again regularly. A server whose invite stops working or that Discord marks as age-restricted drops out of the directory.
  • Ownership is checked through Discord: only someone with the Manage Server permission can list or edit a server.

What we refuse

We reject or remove listings that break Discord's rules or our community guidelines, for example:

  • NSFW or age-restricted servers and any sexual content;
  • scams, phishing, fake giveaways, account selling and other fraud;
  • hate, harassment, violent extremism and illegal content;
  • misleading names or descriptions, impersonation of brands or creators, keyword stuffing;
  • invites that expire or lead to a different server.

How ranking works

All servers are ranked by one score, the same for every plan. It adds up these signals:

  • Bumps. An owner can bump a server once every 6 hours. A bump gives the biggest boost, which halves every 12 hours.
  • Activity. For servers with BotGG, activity is measured by the bot (active members and messages). For other servers, we use the number of members online. Activity is capped, so a very large server cannot win on this alone.
  • Size. More members help, but on a logarithmic scale with a cap: going from 100 to 1,000 members matters more than going from 10,000 to 11,000.
  • Members online. The share of members who are online right now, with a small cap.
  • Freshness. Newly approved servers get a boost that fades over their first 14 days.
  • Votes. Votes from the last 30 days, on a logarithmic scale with a cap.

When two servers have the same score, the larger one comes first. Paid plans never change the ranking: TopGuilds PRO and BotGG plans have no effect on the score, bumps or votes.

Votes

Visitors vote with their Discord account. Each account can vote for a server once every 12 hours, the account must be at least 7 days old, and there is an hourly limit per account. We watch for unusual patterns, such as many votes from very new accounts or sudden bursts; flagged votes are checked by staff and can be removed.

Reports and removals

Every server page has a "Report this server" link. Reports are anonymous and are reviewed by our team. If a server breaks the rules, we can hide or remove it. A removed or unlisted server's page shows that it is no longer listed.

Appeals

If you think we made a mistake, write to us through the contact page. Tell us the server and what you changed. A team member looks at the listing again.
